Prisma Fachhandels AG is passionate about stationery and office supplies and is the leading cooperation for specialist retail partners in the German-speaking area selling articles from the product ranges of writing utensils, books, office supplies and stationery. That is why the association is one of the Insights-X cooperation partners. Michael Purper has been Managing Director of Prisma Fachhandels AG since 1997 and Chairman of its Executive Board since 2017. In this interview, he tells us about the advantages the association offers retailers and why visits to trade fairs are absolutely essential.
Why do you recommend a visit to Insights-X to your members?
Michael Purper: The dates of Insights-X are perfect for making preparations for the coming year – and the selection of exhibitors leaves nothing to be desired.
At the expo, our retailers can enjoy direct contact with the exhibitors and can compare services and offers. For me as a retailer, this is the only way that I can make the right decisions for my business. At the same time, the chance for retailers to exchange information at the expo is indispensable.
What are the benefits of being a PRISMA member for retailers? What is special about your association?
M.P.: Prisma can help retailers with regard to all the relevant areas: product ranges, market development, financing, selecting locations, business consultancy, employee training...
Our strength is the personal contact we have with all our members. Each inquiry the retailers make is answered immediately and appropriate solutions are discussed. This sounds banal, but with 770 members, it's a challenge that we fulfil with passion. I'm always available for our members.
What opportunities and risks do you see in digitalisation?
M.P.: For us, digitalisation is an opportunity and it also makes work enormously easier. Digitalisation opens up completely new communication channels with regard to the target group of retailers. However, business is still transacted between people and we want to concentrate on these personal relationships.
